Bernard Quesnel, 86, of Middlebury
MIDDLEBURY — Bernard Quesnel, 86, a lifelong resident of Middlebury, Vt., passed unexpectedly on Dec. 2, 2024, at UVM Medical Center.
Born in Shoreham, Vt., to Euclide and Alice Quesnel, he graduated from Middlebury High School as class president in 1958. Bernard then dove into several spirited entrepreneurial adventures that took him all over New England and Canada. Bernard’s businesses provided work and stability for his family and many others in the community. Bernard’s zest for life and work ethic kept him going and doing what he loved until the end.
In Bernard’s downtime, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, quiet summer mornings on Lake Dunmore, and laughing with his friends and family.
Bernard is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife of 60 years, Sandra (Hornbeck) Quesnel; his three children, Deb Spencer/John Spencer, Sue Quesnel/Jim Roberts, and Andrew Quesnel/Leslie Quesnel; the grandchildren who lit up his life, Madison Hancock/Austin Hancock, Travis Spencer, Caroline Quesnel and Luke Quesnel; his brother, Louis Quesnel; and many friends, both old and new. Bernard lived life to its fullest and will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Middlebury, with the Rev. Brandon Schneider as the celebrant.
