Lisa Smith, 59, of Middlebury
MIDDLEBURY — Lisa Smith passed away unexpectedly Nov. 22, 2024, at the age of 59. Lisa’s life was defined by her kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need. Born to Jerrolds Austin and Mary LaRose, Lisa grew up with a quick wit and a great sense of humor that endeared her to all who knew her.
Lisa worked for many years at WAGS (West Addison General Store) in Addison, Vt., drove cross country as a truck driver with her husband Bob, and lastly served as an EMT with M.V.A.A, before becoming disabled. Lisa touched countless lives, bringing comfort and care to those in their most vulnerable moments. Her friends and colleagues will remember her as a beacon of warmth and compassion — someone who always put others before herself.
Lisa was a loving mother to her two children, Jessica Gallipo (Kirk) and Curtis Bishop (Abby), and a proud grandmother to Declan and Kieran, who brought immense joy to her life. Her mother, Mary was her rock, especially during these last few years. She shared a special bond with her sisters, Cindy Broughton (David) and Penny Plouffe (Maurice) and many nieces and nephews. She cherished the memories of her late husband, Bob, whose love remained a source of strength for her throughout her life.
Lisa’s legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at Rosie’s Restaurant in Middlebury, Vt., on Monday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m., if you’d prefer to just stop by to pay respects there will be food and visiting from 2-3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Homeward Bound. ◊
