Bristol Police Log: Police need assistance for dog bite case
BRISTOL — Bristol police are requesting help from the public following a dog bite incident.
Police responded to a report of a person being bitten by a dog on North Street at around 11 p.m. on Sept. 20. Police want help identifying a black German shepherd and its owner. Those who know the dog are asked to contact Bristol police at 802-453-2533.
Between Sept. 1 and 21, Bristol police completed 62 foot patrols and three car patrols, conducted 50 traffic stops, and checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 21 times, at Bristol Elementary School 21 times, and at local businesses 14 times.
Police also processed 60 fingerprint requests, verified two vehicle identification numbers, conducted one welfare check, helped one person gain access to their locked vehicle, and responded to one 911 hang-up call that proved to be dialed by accident.
In other recent activity as reported by Chief Bruce Nason this week, Bristol police:
• On Sept. 1, monitored traffic during the Green Mountain Stage Race bicycle event.
• On Sept. 4, responded to a two- vehicle crash on West Street.
• On Sept. 5, helped a person dispose of old ammunition.
• On Sept. 5, responded to Route 17 near Memorial Park for an animal problem. The dog was gone when police arrived.
• On Sept. 6, investigated a report of minor damage to a parked vehicle on Prince Lane.
• On Sept. 6, checked for a suspicious person on Stoney Hill Road. The individual was gone when police arrived.
• On Sept. 6, took a late report (for insurance purposes) of a hit-and-run that had occurred in July.
• On Sept. 6, helped a person locate their dog on Airport Drive.
• On Sept. 7, received a report of phone harassment on Main Street. Police said the matter appears to be a scam and an investigation is ongoing.
• On Sept. 8, responded to a noise complaint on Main Street. Police determined a person was yelling at their TV while watching a sporting event.
• On Sept. 9, assisted Mount Abraham Union Middle School with a truancy concern.
• On Sept. 9, responded to an animal problem on Vincent Drive. An investigation is ongoing.
• On Sept. 9, helped Shelburne police search for a person.
• On Sept. 11, received a report of a juvenile problem on Airport Drive. An investigation is ongoing.
• On Sept. 11, responded to a loose dog on East Street. The dog was gone when police arrived.
• On Sept. 11, received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Pine Street. Police determined the person had stopped to use their phone and didn’t observe any issues.
• On Sept. 12, investigated an animal complaint on Rockydale Road. The owner was warned for a dog at large.
• On Sept. 13, monitored traffic and assisted students and staff crossing the street during an evacuation relocation drill at Mount Abraham Union Middle/High School.
• On Sept. 13, responded to a vehicle complaint on Main Street. After investigating, police cited Paul LeClair, 76, of Bristol, for driving under the influence.
• On Sept. 13, investigated a report of a disorderly person on Main Street.
• On Sept. 13, following a traffic stop on Mountain Street, cited Christopher Hart, 34, of New Haven for driving with a criminally suspended license. The passenger of the vehicle, Katelyn Thompson, 31, of Starksboro, was taken into custody on a warrant for failing to appear for a prior court date.
• On Sept. 14, ticketed tickets for vehicles parked on Lincoln Road. A vehicle was towed for parking in the roadway.
• On Sept. 16, responded to a vehicle complaint on Pine Street. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.
• On Sept. 17, received a report of a dog at large on Lincoln Road. The caller was expected to provide a written statement for follow-up.
• On Sept. 17, helped Mount Abe with a truancy concern.
• On Sept. 17, helped a person with transportation.
• On Sept. 19, received a threatening complaint on Firehouse Drive. An investigation is ongoing.
• On Sept. 20, responded to Greenwood Cemetery for a citizen dispute. An investigation is ongoing.
• On Sept. 20, cited Lindsay Lathrop, 42, of Bristol, on an active warrant issued by the Addison County Superior Court for failing to appear for a previous court hearing.
• On Sept. 20, cited Patrick Cota, 31, of Bristol, for driving with a criminally suspended license following a traffic stop on Pine Street.
• On Sept. 21, cited Tiffany Palmer, 29, of Roxbury for driving with a criminally suspended license following a traffic stop on Route 116 South.
• On Sept. 21, responded to West Street for a motor vehicle complaint. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.
• On Sept. 21, investigated a reported violation of an abuse prevention order. After investigating, police cited Thomas Roussin, 43, of Vergennes, for that offense.
• On Sept. 21, responded to the Bristol Town Green for a suspicious person. The person was gone when police arrived.
