Vermont State Police Log for Aug. 8
ADDISON COUNTY — During the last few days of July and the first few of August, Vermont State Police cited several local people for allegedly being involved in domestic violence incidents.
First, on July 30 at around 1:30 p.m., troopers responded to a reported family fight on Basin Harbor Road in Ferrisburgh. They alleged that Jared Linke, 36, of Ferrisburgh, physically injured a household member, and cited him for domestic assault and committing a crime in front of a child. Members of the Addison County Sheriff’s Department assisted Vergennes police at the scene.
Then, on July 31, state police cited Timothy A. Paquette, 27, for domestic assault and unlawful restraint, stemming from an alleged July 10 family fight in Monkton.
On Aug. 1, troopers cited Mathew Marcelle, 34, of Bristol, for domestic assault. This action was the result of an investigation by the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigations into an allegation that Marcelle had caused “bodily injury” to a juvenile household member during July.
Finally, on Aug. 2 at around 9 a.m., troopers at the New Haven barracks were advised of a recent, alleged domestic assault in Ferrisburgh. Police alleged that Kevin Miller, 33, of Ferrisburgh, had assaulted a household member and had placed them “in fear of serious bodily injury.” Police cited Miller on Aug. 5 for domestic assault, and he was lodged at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility for lack of $2,000 bail.
Meanwhile, a Brandon teen on July 30 pleaded not guilty to three counts sexual assault.
State police last week said they received an initial report of sexual assault from one victim in June, then following an investigation cited Mark Jackson, 17, of Brandon, with the sexual assault of two underage females — an incident that allegedly occurred in 2022. On June 30, troopers arrested Jackson and took him to Rutland Superior Court, criminal division, where he was arraigned and made his pleas. He was released on conditions, including a 24-hour curfew.
The Rutland County state’s attorney has requested Jackson be charged as an adult, according to state police.
Separately, state police were called to a public swimming place in Orwell on July 27 for a report that a man was causing a public disturbance by using obscene language, threatening people and obstructing traffic toward a 75-year-old woman. Police report that Kaleb Marchinkowski, 22, of Rutland, was subsequently cited for disorderly conduct, driving with a criminally suspended license, and violation of his conditions of release.
In an unrelated incident in Orwell, state police on Aug. 2 at 8:25 p.m. received a report of a possible threatening call received by an Orwell man. Troopers investigated and cited Joseph Shaw, 60, for criminally threatening.
In other recent activity, state police:
- On July 30 at 6:04 p.m. cited Jill Smith, 42, of Bristol for driving with a criminally suspended license on Route 7 in Charlotte.
- On Aug. 5 at around 3:30 p.m., were dispatched to a one-car crash in Granville. Police found that a 2008 Ford Taurus X had had slid off a rain-soaked Route 100 and was stuck in a ditch; the driver had left the scene.
Police found the driver, identified as Robert L. Singleton, 31, of Brooklyn, N.Y., nearby, had him treated by emergency services for minor injuries and interviewed him. During the interview, troopers said they found him to be impaired and ultimately cited him for driving under the influence.
