Letter to the editor: Olson has right experience, temperament to serve
Herb Olson has been our neighbor up here on Ireland Road in Starksboro for just about 35 years.
We think he has the experience and temperament we need in the Statehouse for the upcoming biennium.
- He spent more than a decade as legislative counsel in Montpelier. He knows the ropes and will be an effective legislator.
- As a former M.t Abe School Board member and staunch advocate for community schools, Herb knows well that effective public education is a cornerstone for our republic. He also knows that our current education financing crisis threatens to undermine taxpayers’ support for this critical function. This will be his top legislative priority.
- As a former general counsel regulating health insurance, health care and financial services, Herb has the experience to make the case for universal primary care as a way to contain runaway health care costs.
- He is a keen listener, and a firm believer that a respectful dialogue is always the basis for creating workable solutions to the difficult problems we face.
We need legislators who will listen to, and advocate for rural, small-town voters. Herb is ready to bring a fresh perspective to the work that needs to happen in Montpelier, and will be a strong voice for Bristol, Monkton Starksboro and Lincoln.
We’ll be voting for Herb in the Democratic Primary next Tuesday, and encourage fellow district voters to do so as well.
