YVONNE MARIE MORGAN

MIDDLEBURY — Yvonne Marie Morgan, age 86, of Middlebury, Vt., passed away on July 23, 2024, with her children and family by her side. She leaves a legacy of love.

Yvonne graduated from Bristol High School in 1955. She married Ray Morgan in 1957, and they celebrated 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2019. Yvonne raised her four children and worked at the Middlebury Telephone Office before attending the Vermont College of Cosmetology in 1971. After graduation, Yvonne established her own business and became a licensed hairdresser. She continued to own and operate Yvonne’s Hairstyling well into her 70’s. Throughout her career she built community, friendships and served as wise counsel to so many.

Yvonne was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Parish, teaching catechism, serving on parish committees, and doing for others wherever needed. In addition to her faith, Yvonne was defined by family, cherished friendships, love, and hard work. She was the fifth of 16 children born to Peter and Bernadette Cousino. She was devoted to this extended family all throughout her life, as they were to her.

Yvonne would rarely sit still. She enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, decorating and maintaining her home, gardening, visiting and taking care of the people she loved. Yvonne’s hobbies also included decorating a Victorian dollhouse — it is a treasure. She loved to make things beautiful. She is known for her popovers, love of a good radish or cucumber sandwich, and sharing a cup of tea.

Yvonne’s final life chapter was marked by the loss of her son, husband and memories. In this time, her essence remained, her feistiness intensified, and the love she gave came back to her. Countless moments have become cherished memories of a life well lived and Yvonne’s journey home. She is free.

Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Ray, and son, Michael Morgan. She is survived by son, Christopher Morgan of Middlebury, Vt., and daughters Kathy Malzac (Paul) of Monkton, Vt., and Jaye O’Connell (Kenny) of Essex Junction, Vt.; six grandchildren, Justin, Kayla, Kirsten, Mackenzie, Jacob and Lily; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Lydia, and a third to arrive later this year.

Yvonne leaves three sisters, Anne Myrick, Patricia Atkins and Mary Bingham and two brothers, Roger and Charles Cousino. She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Marjorie Paquette, Veronica Mayer and Linda Roscoe and brothers Lucius, Guy, Ambrose, Eugene, Joseph, and Peter Cousino. She also leaves many special nieces and nephews.

This family was her heart.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Parish in Middlebury, followed by burial at Mount St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol, Vt. A reception will be held at St. Ambrose parish hall in Bristol immediately after the burial.

Contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice.◊
