JOREEN P. KOVACS

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Joreen P Kovacs of Plattsburgh, N.Y., formerly of Shoreham, Vt., passed away with her children by her side June 25, 2024, at the age of 75.

Joreen was born in Rutland, Vt., to Marion (Patenaude) Sartwell and Orlo Sartwell. The family relocated to Danbury, Conn., when she was young, where she attended school, graduating from Danbury High School, class of 1966. Shortly after that she married the love of her life, Joseph G. Kovacs on May 25, 1968.

Joreen and Joe traveled overseas while Joe was enlisted in the U.S. Army. In 1973 they settled in Shoreham, Vt., where they would raise their two children. Joreen ran a successful upholstery business and later worked in insurance. After the children were grown, they relocated to South Carolina and then Florida for the second half of their married life and retirement years. In most recent years, after the passing of her husband Joe and her mother, Joreen resided in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to be closer to family.

Joreen is survived by her sister, Denise Green of Derby, Conn.; daughter Michele Larocque (Jason) of East Middlebury, Vt.; and her son, Joseph A Kovacs (Sarah) of Peru, N.Y.; also her grandchildren, Katelyn Larocque and Aaron Larocque of East Middlebury, Vt. and Syrie Miller, Amelia Kovacs and Opal Kovacs of Peru, N.Y.

Joreen was predeceased by her parents, Marion and Orlo Sartwell, her husband, Joseph G Kovacs, and her brother, William Sartwell.

Per her wishes there will be no services. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
