DOREEN J. GILMORE

MIDDLEBURY — Doreen J. Gilmore, age 88, of Middlebury, Vt., recently passed away peacefully in her sleep June 12, 2023, in her daughter’s home in Tennessee.

Doreen was preceded in death by her son, Gary F. Gilmore; her partner, Donald Randall; and her parents, Leon and Erma King.

Doreen leaves behind her children: Richard A. (Skip) Gilmore of Weybridge, Vt.; Patricia A. Hayes of Middlebury, Vt.; Dean J. (Melinda) Gilmore of New Haven, Vt.; Randy G. Gilmore of Tennessee; and Anna M. (John) Ferry of Tennessee; her 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Gerald (Pat) King, sister Pauline (King) Cousino and Shirley (King) (Thomas) Merrifield, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Doreen was a life member of the VFW (Conductress) Auxiliary and the American Legion. She enjoyed crocheting, some knitting, sewing, reading, listening to country music and polka music (both loudly!), and TV shows “Survivor,” “When Calls the Heart,” and the Food Network.

She was a long-time employee of the Addison Independent and Helen Porter Nursing Home.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Middlebury VFW Auxiliary, 530 Exchange St., Middlebury, VT 05753. ◊
