Lincoln news for May 20

LINCOLN — The Lincoln Cooperative Preschool has an amazing online auction running until Friday, May 28. Please visit the Bidding for Good site at biddingforgood.com/lincolnpreschoolvt or the mobile site at bforg.com/lincolnpreschoolvt. So many generous and talented locals have donated over 40 goods and services from food, gift certificates and garden seeds, to instruments, jewelry, and art. Check out all that’s listed and support the preschoolers.

The Lincoln Library has received a grant from the American Library Association. With this grant, the goal is to bring community members together across local organizations to engage in the unifying activity of creating an inventory of places that we value in town. The library will lead the community-driven, creative task of designing activities that would interest families by bringing them out of doors, teaching them about the history, culture, and natural surroundings of Lincoln through 10 to 12 interactive activities like a scavenger hunt, walking tour, a bingo card, word puzzle and more. These family-friendly, accessible activities will be combined into an activity booklet available online and at the library for checkout. The library will be reaching out and welcoming participation from anyone who is interested.

FROM THE TOWN

The Lincoln Gap Road is now open for the summer. Please use common sense and drive cautiously as high elevation storms can make road conditions slippery at any time of year. Also, please drive with care to avoid hitting hikers and cyclists in this heavily travelled recreational area.

The Lincoln Cemetery Association will be holding a spring cleanup at Maple Cemetery during the week of May 24. The cemetery rules and regulations say that Christmas decorations are to be removed from graves by May 1. If you have anything around your family stone that you want to keep, please remove it before May 24. Also, please note, plastic flowers are not allowed on graves during mowing season (May-October).

REMINDER

There will be no school for MAUSD students on Monday, May 31, in observance of Memorial Day.

Until next time … Life Is Better When You’re Laughing. Enjoy Today. Don’t Measure Your Progress Using Someone Else’s Ruler.
