Shrine game set; Rubright picked

CASTLETON — The 68th Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl football game is scheduled to be played Saturday, Aug. 7, in Castleton University’s Dave Wolk Stadium at 5:30 p.m.
One local player, Middlebury Union High School senior tight end and defensive end Bode Rubright, was chosen to play for the Vermont senior football all-stars who will compete against their New Hampshire counterparts.
The Vermont Shrine Team will be led by Brattleboro Coach Chad Pacheco, and the New Hampshire team will be coached by Kingswood Regional Coach Paul Landry.
Twenty-six high schools are represented on the New Hampshire Shrine Team and 18 on the Vermont Team.
Game organizers hope as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted the teams will be able to meet throughout the summer for practices.
