WEYBRIDGE — Daniel Paul Fleming passed away on March 6, 2021, at the age of 66. He was surrounded by his loving friends and family at his home in Weybridge, Vt. He was born Feb. 3, 1955, at Gifford Memorial Hospital in Randolph, Vt., to parents Donald W. and Elloe F. Fleming of Hancock, Vt.
Danny was a resident at Brandon Training School from age 6 to young adulthood. He later was mainstreamed to a group home in Middlebury. Vt. From there he transferred to an apartment program in Bristol, Vt., where he resided for many years. While there he made many friends.
Three years ago Danny became a full-time resident at young families, where he received excellent care and felt like part of the family.
Danny held different jobs throughout his adult life. He performed janitorial services for several businesses. Most recently he worked at Cubbers Pizza in Bristol, Vt.
Danny was an active member of the Special Olympics and earned medals for swimming, bowling and cross-country skiing. He loved fiddlers, banjos and Country Bluegrass music. He spent many hours listening to his favorites. He learned to play rhythm instruments, spoons, tambourine and a little banjo. He also loved cars, trucks, and the memory of his dad’s old jeep and all the old stories that went with it. His laugh was contagious and his sense of humor was appreciated. Most would remember Dan as a very soft-spoken, shy person, yet he gained the genuine friendship of many.
