Harriet Nelson Edson, 88, formerly of Salisbury
LEOMINSTER, Mass. — Harriet Nelson Edson was born in Middlebury, Vt., on May 6, 1932, and died at the age of 88 in Lancaster, Mass., on March 4, 2021, after having received a diagnosis of lung cancer.
She was born in Middlebury, and raised in the small town of Salisbury. She was a Middlebury College Graduate with a B.A. in Sociology. She married and settled in Concord, Mass. to raise her family. She always had a love of music. She played the piano and was a member of the choir at numerous churches. She had a passion for giving back and was an active volunteer at Massachusetts Correction Institute in Concord. She received a Certificate of Achievement for her work in adult literacy. Always an avid card player, she took up bridge in retirement and loved playing regularly.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Eastman of Palm Desert, Calif.; her son, Peter Edson of Leominster, Mass.; and her daughter, Lauren Edson-Fisher of Staten Island, N.Y. She is also survived by her cousin, Howard Nelson; her brother-in-law and sister-in law, Glenn and Florence Edson; and her nephews and niece, Bruce Edson, Stephen Edson and Glenna Castner.
