KATHLEEN N. SHANGRAW

HUNTINGTON — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen N. Shangraw, 83, of Huntington, Vt., on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021, at the Vermont Respite House in Colchester.
She was born May 22, 1937 in Barre, Vt., to Frank and Dallis (Van Deusen) Noble. Kathleen graduated from Shelburne High School in 1956 and married Burton H. Shangraw Jr. on Sept. 1 of that same year in Burlington, Vt. They were married 64 years and made many happy memories together.
Over the years Kathleen worked in the kitchens of Burlington High School and Fletcher Allen Hospital as a baker. She was very proud of her amazing deserts and unforgettable breads, many of which she entered at the Champlain Valley Fair, always bringing home Blue Ribbons. Kathleen started a Girl Scout troop in the North End of Burlington, where she was a leader for many years, encouraging the girls to achieve new patches, to go new places and try new things. She always had a smile on her face while enjoying her artwork, gardening, bird watching, NASCAR, The Boston Red Sox, golf, a good garage sale, striking up a conversation with anyone she met, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish Kathleen’s memory are her husband Burton of Huntington and their children: Dallis Shangraw of Missouri, Jodie Tobin of Florida, Burt (Kathi) Shangraw of Florida, Scott (Jennifer) Shangraw of Florida, and Penny (Peter) Gadwah of South Hero, Vt.; grandchildren Brandon (Melissa) Shangraw of Texas, Joelle Tobin of North Dakota, Carissa Shangraw of Connecticut, Steven (Amanda) Shangraw of Alaska, Danielle (Eric) Goodrich of Grand Isle, Vt., snd Patrick Gadwah of Williston. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren Harper and Ella Shangraw of Texas and Aubrey and Ashton Shangraw of Alaska. Kathleen is also survived by three sisters, a brother, many loving nephews, nieces and friends.
Services will be held at a later date this summer.
Arrangements are in care of Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant Street, Essex Jct., Vt. ◊
