MUHS boys ski to victory
HUNTINGTON — In a six-team meet hosted by Burlington High School at Sleepy Hollow Ski and Bike Center on Feb. 17 the Middlebury Union High School boys coasted to victory, while the Tiger girls’ team was fourth.
Mount Abraham independents also excelled in the race, which combined 2.3 kilometers on classic skis and another 2.5K on skate skis.
The Tiger boys won with 19 points, followed by Mount Mansfield, 38; Champlain Valley, 46; BHS, 97; Colchester, 120; and South Burlington, 177.
BHS (18 points) won the girls’ race trailed by MMU (31), CVU (34), MUHS (75), CHS (135) and SB (161).
Local skiers claimed the top five spots in the boys’ race: Tiger Jack Christner finished first in 12:41 and was followed by Eagle Neil Guy in second (12:52), Tiger Lucas Palcsik in third (12:53), Eagle Joe Graziadei in fourth (12:54), and Tiger Elvis McIntosh in fifth (13:07).
The other Tiger boys and their places were: 10. Baxter Harrington, 14:10; 20. Trey Bosworth, 14:59; 23. Ben Seaton, 15:06; 32. Eliot Schneider, 15:56; 53. Lukas Broughton, 18:56); and Nick Suchomel, 19:50.
The Tiger girls and their places and times were: 12: Phoebe Hussey, 16:24; 19. Astrid Olsen, 18:13; 23. Maddy Stowe, 18:44; 35. Ari Graham-Gurland, 19:49; 53. Dahlia Harrison-Irwin, 21:46; and 54; Stella Andrews, 21:47.
