Lawrence Alan Edgerton, 64, former Salisbury resident

LAWRENCE ALAN EDGERTON

WOONSOCKET R.I. — Lawrence Alan Edgerton, 64, a proud native Vermonter, died on Feb. 20, 2021, at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I., of complications from COVID-19. Larry was born in Middlebury on Jan. 12, 1957, the middle son of the late Elmer “Bud” and Marjorie (Roucoulet) Edgerton. He attended St. Mary’s School and graduated in 1974 from Middlebury Union High School.
Larry loved Lake Dunmore more than any other place on earth. Growing up in Salisbury, he spent every waking moment all summer in, on and under the water, swimming and water skiing. As a teenager, he worked at Waterhouse’s, and he was exceptionally proud to be a member of the Waterhouse family through his paternal grandmother, Mary Frances Waterhouse Edgerton. He derived his greatest joy from spending time with his children, Pat and Ali, the lights of his life.
He was a talented carpenter and he worked for several years at Basin Harbor Club, maintaining the buildings and sometimes building furniture. Like his father, the best part of any job for Larry was meeting people. Most recently, he was employed as a maintenance man at Benchmark of Forge Hill, an assisted living facility in Franklin, Mass., where he enjoyed his contact with the people he called “my residents.”
Larry will be greatly missed by his children, Patryck Waterhouse Edgerton, of Lima, Ohio; and Alicia Taylor Edgerton, of Kingston, R.I., both college students; and their mother, Jane DiFranza, of Melrose, Mass. Also grieving his untimely loss are his siblings, Jean Edgerton, Tom Edgerton and Carolyn LaRose (David), all of Middlebury; Diane Barrows-Johnson (Bruce), of Dorset, and Steve Edgerton (Karen), of Bomoseen; his nieces and nephews, Seth Barrows (Marsha), Justin Barrows (Anna), Caleb Edgerton (Vicky), Jennifer Zeno-Ethridge (Dennis), Jennifer Bolton, Leah Connolly (Tom), and Joshua Edgerton (Kathleen); his grandnieces and grandnephews, Jack, Sam and Lauren Barrows, Braeden Barrows, Alexxis Zeno, Hayden and Hunter Bolton, Thomas Connolly, and Luca Edgerton; aunt, Patricia Moore, and uncle, Tom Derby; many, many cousins; and a special friend, Ashley Elizabeth.
Larry’s ashes will be interred at a later date with his parents and paternal grandparents in Holman Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will host a celebration of Larry’s life after the threat of COVID-19 no longer exists. Friends are encouraged to make a donation to a favorite charity in his memory.◊
