Kenneth Joseph LaPorte, 80, of Leicester
LEICESTER — Kenneth Joseph LaPorte, age 80, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Ken was born in Forest Dale on March 29, 1940. He was the son of George and Bernice (Ryder) LaPorte. He grew up in Leicester, where he received his early education at Leicester 1 School. He furthered his education at Brandon High School. He began his working career as a farmer at Alfred Aunchman Farm in Leicester. He later became a woodsman, logging various area of Vermont. Ken had also worked at OMYA and was a custodian at Otter Valley Union High School. He was forced to retire due to an open-heart surgery in 1996. He was a NASCAR Fan and enjoyed working on his vehicles.
He is survived by three sisters, Annette M. LaRock of Salisbury, Marjorie M. Shepard and Eileen E. LaPorte, both of Brandon; two brothers, Allen G. LaPorte and Robert LaPorte, both of Leicester; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Donald P. LaPorte and his companion, Claire Mullaney.
A private funeral service will take place at a later date at Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
The graveside committal service and burial will be held at a later date, in St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Brandon.
Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; Foley Cancer Clinic, 160 Allen Street, Rutland, VT 05701.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.◊
