EDWARD ALAN SEARS

VERGENNES — Edward Sears, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in bed on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, with his family by his bedside. I fought a good battle with cancer.
Ed was born on May 10, 1940, in Ferrisburgh, Vt., the son of Charles and Millicent Sears.
Celia (Keith) Sears, my wife, I will dearly miss our special times together on stage singing karaoke duets.
I’ll leave you with this: Please don’t cry because I’m gone; instead be happy that I was here. (Or just maybe a tear or two. After all, I passed away.)
He left behind a hell of a lot of stuff to his son (Chuck Sears), daughter (Christine Hayden), grandchildren (Dominic and Michael Hayden) and very close brother (Leonard Sears), who have no idea what to do with all the stuff down in his basement.
Ed was an all-round good man, good husband and good father. He was generous — the kind of guy who would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Ed had a dry sense of humor and developed special friendships over his long life. Ed was an avid hunter, fisherman, machinist, carpenter, a big fan of the Addison County Fair & Field Days tractor pulls and demolition derby.
Special thanks are given by Ed Sears’ family to the caregivers at Addison County Home Health & Hospice. A memorial visitation for Ed will be held on Monday, Feb. 1, from noon to 1 p.m., at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes with a service following at 1 p.m. A mask is required for the service. For those who cannot attend in person the services will be recorded and available to watch on the following Wednesday on the Brown-McClay Funeral Home website. The video will be located on the bottom of the obituary.
