CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Bess A. Anderson, formerly of Ferrisburgh, Vt., died on Dec. 28, 2020, in Chapel Hill, N.C. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Sanford, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; Jennifer’s husband, Ben, and their children, Nathaniel and Josie; her son, Robert Anderson, of Berea, Ky., and his daughter, Aurora; and her beloved cat, Tommy.
Bess’ much-loved husband, Robert (Bob) Anderson, died in 2009.
Bess was born in Plainfield, N.J., to Irving and Josephine (Greiner) Phoebus. The family moved to Vermont in 1952 and started dairy farming in Ferrisburgh. Bess and Bob took over the family farm after their marriage and ran it successfully for several years.
She loved cats, good food, and working in the Arts & Crafts area of the Addison County Fair and Field Days.
Her family is celebrating her life privately. She will be laid to rest next to Bob in the Gage Cemetery in Ferrisburgh.
