ADDISON COUNTY — While driving on Monkton Road in Monkton this past Monday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 a.m., a Vermont State Police trooper saw a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed in the opposing lane.
The trooper turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle, which accelerated and failed to yield for several miles. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Monkton Road. The officer identified the driver as Conrad Wells, 33, of Addison. While speaking with Wells, the trooper detected indicators of impairment and screened him for driving under the influence. Eventually, he arrested Wells, took him to the New Haven state police barracks and cited him for attempting to elude police, negligent driving and DUI, second offense.
In other recent activity, state police:
•  On Sept. 18 at approximately 8:42 p.m. responded to a threatening complaint in Bristol. After investigating police late last week announced that they had cited Ralph P. Bolletino, 58, of Tamaqua, Pa., for stalking a Bristol man over the phone and cited him for disturbing the peace by phone.
•  On Sept. 24 cited Joseph Ploof, 29, of Addison for driving with a criminally suspended license on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh.
•  On Sept 24 cited Scott Lee, 50, of Charlotte for driving with a criminally suspended license on South Street in New Haven.
•  On Sept. 26 logged a report of the theft of multiple yard signs saying Black Lives Matter and other statements from a home on Ripton Road in Lincoln. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or can identify the subject involved is asked to contact the Vermont State Police at 802-388-4919.
•  On Sept. 26 at a few minutes before 9 p.m. received a report of a stalking order violation on Bisbee Road in Ferrisburgh. Police allege that Pamela Blair, 64, of Ferrisburgh violated three stalking orders. They arrested her and cited Blair for three counts of violation of a stalking order.
•  On Sept. 27 stopped a vehicle driven by Gregory Schroeder, 64, of Salisbury at the intersection of West Shore Road and Lake Dunmore Road in Salisbury and cited him for driving with a criminally suspended license on.
•  On Oct. 2 at approximately 7:50 a.m. responded to a report of a one-car crash on Leicester-Whiting Road in Leicester. Troopers found a 2003 gold Subaru Forester off the roadway and partially overturned near Seymour Brook. The driver, identified as Tina Taylor, 45, of Leicester, was being examined by the Brandon Area Rescue Squad. Police report that Taylor had fallen asleep, crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck a metal guardrail. Taylor’s vehicle left the roadway and turned onto its side. Taylor was not injured but the car was totaled.
This crash remains under investigation. Police said neither speed nor impaired driving appeared to be a factor.
•  On Oct. 3 at approximately 6:13 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh. Police cited Christopher Fitzpatrick, 30, of Jeffersonville for driving under the influence.
•  On Oct. 3 at 11:25 p.m. stopped a vehicle on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh after seeing a violation. Troopers cited Wendell Morse, 47, of Vergennes for driving under the influence, third offense.
•  On Oct. 4 at around 5 p.m. responded to a one-car crash on Route 17 in Starksboro with minor injuries. Troopers report that Raemon Weston Jr., 59, of Moretown was driving eastbound on Route 17 in Starksboro when his vehicle exited the westbound lane into a ditch. Police cited Weston for driving under the influence.
•  On Oct. 5 at a little past 6 a.m. received a report of a family fight in Monkton. Troopers said that through investigating they learned that 31-year-old Ernest Bergman of Monkton had assaulted a household member in the presence of a juvenile. Police cited Bergman for domestic assault committed in the presence of a child.
