WEYBRIDGE — Janice Lorraine Rich of Weybridge, Vt., passed away on Sept. 18, 2020, following a long illness, at Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Nursing. Born Janice Lorraine Lilly on Nov. 2, 1936, to Victor and Helen (Daniels) Lilly, Janice grew up in Orwell, Vt. Janice was predeceased by her beloved husband Leslie Howard Rich Sr. on Dec. 18, 2004. They were married in Orwell, Vt., on April 11, 1953, where they lived and raised their two sons before moving to Weybridge, Vt. in 1974.
An avid gardener, bird watcher, and masterful seamstress, Jan could name every weed, flower, tree and native bird as well as turn a piece of fabric into anything from the tiniest doll clothes (complete with zippers and pearl buttons) to a custom-made wedding gown for her niece. Her creativity and talent knew no bounds as “creativity is intelligence having fun.” – Albert Einstein
Janice leaves behind her sons, Leslie Rich, Jr. and wife Sylvia of Salisbury and Tim and wife Paula of Weybridge; granddaughter Rebecca Ferra of New Hampshire; brothers James Lilly of Weybridge and Lee Lilly of Montpelier; nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Shard Villa and Porter Nursing and Rehabilitative Center for their loving and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Jan’s devotion to dogs throughout her entire life (Sheba, Puddles, Pierre, Mitzie, and Santee), friends and family are asked to consider a donation to the Addison County Humane Society in Janice’s name.
At Jan’s request there will be no calling hours, and a private graveside ceremony will be held in Orwell, Vermont.
