Correia resigns as Panton’s town clerk

PANTON — Panton Town Clerk and Treasurer Pam Correia resigned from her posts on Aug. 3, and her last day of work will be Aug. 13.
Correia said she would be pursuing other opportunities, quite possibly in municipal government, but did not have anything specific lined up. Correia also has prior experience working in Bristol’s town office and in Vergennes City Hall.
Selectboard Chairman Howard Hall on Thursday, Aug. 6, said Assistant Clerk/Treasurer Linda Douville would fill in until the town could hire a replacement. Panton does not elect its town clerk. Rather, its selectboard hires the town clerk, who works for and reports directly to the board.
Hall added the town would begin seeking a permanent replacement for Correia immediately.
“We’re writing up an ad as we speak,” he said.
