UPDATED: Vermont State Police Log: N.Y. man cited for DUI, cruelty to children

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police stopped a motor vehicle on Route 22A in Shoreham at around 10:30 p.m. on July 4. Troopers report that while talking with the driver, identified as 29-year-old Trey Hood of Crown Point, N.Y., they detected indicators of impairment. They also noted that two juveniles were in the car when Hood was driving.
So officers screened Hood for drinking and driving and ended up citing him for driving under the influence, as well as for two counts of cruelty to a child.
Hood is due to answer the charges in Addison Superior Court, criminal division, on Sept. 21.
In other recent activity, Vermont State Police:
•  On June 25 at 4:18 p.m. stopped a vehicle driven by Cheryl Barrows, 55, of Salisbury on Route 7 in Pittsford, and cited Burrows for driving with a criminally suspended license.
•  On June 29 at 9:29 p.m. stopped a vehicle driven by Kaleb Gorton, 28, of Bristol on North Pleasant Street in Middlebury. Police cited Gorton for driving with a criminally suspended license.
•  On June 30 announced that they had cited James Valentino, 70, of Bridport in a case that had begun nine days earlier. State police report that on June 21 at a little after 10 p.m. they had received a report that Valentino had threatened inflict physical harm to Samuel Valentino, 40, of Massapequa, N.Y., via telephone. Police cited James Valentino for disturbing peace by electronic means.
•  On June 30 at approximately 5:09 p.m. responded to a report of a crash on Monkton Road in Monkton. Police said Todd Prouty, 39, of Lincoln failed to stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle. No notable injuries resulted from this incident. Police cited Prouty for driving under the influence, third offense, and negligent driving. 
•  On June 30 at approximately 7:54 p.m. responded to a crash on South Lincoln Road at the intersection of Ripton Road in Lincoln. Troopers said that 28-year-old Anthony J. Rochon of Ripton failed to yield to oncoming traffic while making a left turn onto South Lincoln Road, and as a result Rochon’s 2009 Toyota truck struck a 2014 Ford Focus driven by Russell G. Hill, 49, of Lincoln. There were no apparent major injuries in the crash.
Troopers screened Hill and cited him for driving under the influence. A civil traffic ticket is pending.
Troopers were assisted on scene by members of Lincoln Fire and EMS.

•  On July 3 at 11:35 p.m. stopped a vehicle stop on Route 7 in New Haven after observing a motor vehicle violation. Troopers ended up citing Logan Sefcik, 25, of South Burlington for driving under the influence.
•  On July 5 at 2:51 p.m. logged a report of a one-car crash on Basin Harbor Road in Panton. Troopers report that Nathan Redmond, 35, of Vergennes was driving eastbound on Panton Road when the vehicle exited the northbound portion of Basin Harbor Road, struck a street sign and crashed in a swamp. Vergennes Area Rescue Squad took Redmond to Porter Hospital. Later, state police cited Redmond for driving under the influence, third offense.
•  On July 5 at around 20 minutes before midnight stopped a vehicle on Carlstrom Road in Bristol after observing a motor vehicle violation. Troopers cited Scott M. Bell, 23, of Bristol for driving under the influence of drugs.
•  On July 6 at approximately 1:22 a.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Route 7 in Middlebury. During the traffic stop troopers recognized a passenger as James Turner, 30, of Shoreham, and knew that Turner had an active arrest warrant from Addison County. Police arrested Turner and lodged him at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility with bail set at $200.
