BRISTOL — Between May 11 and 30, Bristol police completed 23 foot patrols and more than 17 hours of car patrols in various parts of town, some of which were part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Officers checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 17 times and at local businesses 15 times; they completed at least seven fingerprint requests, facilitated the return of one lost credit card, one item of personal property and one loose dog; and verified one Vehicle Identification Number.
The department also assisted Vermont State Police three times and Bristol Fire Department once.
In other recent activity, Bristol police:
•  On May 11 gave an elderly person a ride home.
•  On May 11 conducted a welfare check and found no issues or concerns.
•  On May 13 investigated a complaint about a business that was open in violation of the governor’s social distancing orders and found the business closed and secure.
•  On May 14 responded to a burn-ban complaint. The fire was extinguished by the resident.
•  On May 18 began investigating a suspicious complaint.
•  On May 19 conducted a welfare check and found no issues or concerns.
•  On May 20 helped locate the owner of a parked vehicle that was impeding Main Street construction work.
•  On May 21 helped with traffic control while a banner congratulating the Mount Abraham Union High School Class of 2020 was hoisted above West Street.
•  On May 21 conducted a welfare check and found no issues or concerns.
•  On May 21 helped someone who was locked out of their vehicle.
•  On May 22 responded to a report of a family fight and determined that no action rose to the level of an offense.
•  On May 25 investigated a report of harassment and determined that no action rose to the level of an offense.
•  On May 26 began investigating a theft complaint.
•  On May 27 served someone with a temporary refrain from abuse order.
•  On May 27 served someone with court paperwork.
•  On May 27 responded to a threatening complaint and determined that no action rose to the level of an offense.
•  On May 27 responded to a parking problem. The vehicles were removed.
•  On May 27 began investigating a complaint about a suspicious person.
•  On May 27 responded to a complaint about a suspicious vehicle, searched the area, but did not locate the vehicle.
•  On May 29 helped resolve an issue arising near property lines where tree-removal contractors were working.
•  On May 29 investigated a complaint about erratic motor vehicle operation, located the driver, who was determined to be tired, and took no further action.
•  On May 29 provided traffic control while the Department of Public Works removed a tree from the roadway.
