Augustus R. Odell, 69, of Rutland

RUTLAND — Augustus “Gus” Raymond Odell, 69, of Rutland died unexpectedly Monday, May 4, 2020, at his residence.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1950, in Middlebury, the son of the late Walter and Ruth (Senecal) Odell. Gus grew up in Middlebury and graduated from the Middlebury High School. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War. He was employed by several area companies as a logger, house mover, maintenance man and a carpenter.
He enjoyed motorcycles, making model cars and shooting pool. Gus played the bass guitar and was a member for many years of the Mountain Boogie Band.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Odell of Rutland; a daughter, Nola Waite of Uncasville, Conn.; a son, Augustus Ayer of Georgia; two stepsons, Allen and Robert Rumrill, both of Rutland; a sister, Beverly St. Laurent of Massachusetts; three brothers, Walter Odell of Middlebury, James St. Laurent of Massachusetts and Donald St. Laurent of Rutland; maternal granddaughter Kylee Waite of Uncasville, Conn.; six step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Sarah; two brothers, Philip and Roger; and his birth mother Florence Odell.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.◊
