Vermont State Police Log: Woman taken into custody for outstanding warrant

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police apprehended an Addison County resident wanted on an outstanding warrant when they responded to a call for help in Caledonia County — but not without a struggle.
On April 27 at a little before 9 p.m. state police received a report of a domestic disturbance at a Ryegate home and went to check it out. Troopers learned that one of the parties allegedly involved, 35-year-old Kristine Gowdy of Granville, had a warrant for her arrest.
While attempting to take Gowdy into custody, police report that she struck a trooper, resisted arrest, and intentionally damaged a trooper’s uniform. Police also report that Gowdy had also assaulted a household member earlier in the evening.
State police did ultimately take Gowdy into custody and lodged her at the Northern State Correctional Facility. She was cited for first-degree aggravated domestic assault, assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and unlawful mischief.
In other recent activity troopers:
•  On April 21 at around 11:30 p.m. responded to a Bridport home for a report of a stolen bicycle. Troopers searched the area and ultimately located the bicycle; they said that Roger Towle Jr., 33, of Bridport was in possession of the stolen bicycle. They cited Towle for receiving stolen property.
•  On April 26 at approximately half past midnight responded to a one-car crash on Crown Point Road near the intersection with Basin Harbor Road in Bridport. Police report that Christopher Welch, 49, of Bridport was driving a 2006 Subaru Tribeca too fast eastbound on Crown Point Road, lost control of the vehicle and exited the westbound side of road, subsequently colliding with a fence and coming to rest in a field. Middlebury Regional EMS took Welch to Porter Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of injuries. The Subaru was judged to be a total loss.
The Bridport Fire Department helped state police on the scene.
After investigating further, state police cited Welch for negligent driving.
