Bristol Police Log: Police deal with boulder in the road

BRISTOL — On Feb. 25 Bristol police responded to a report of a traffic hazard on Lovers Lane and found that a small boulder had rolled down the hill and into the road.
The Department of Public Works had initially planned to remove the boulder with a front end loader, but it was close enough to the edge of the road that, after rocking it a couple of times, town officials were able to roll it into the ditch.
Between Feb. 24 and March 8 Bristol police completed 21 foot patrols and more than three hours of car patrols in various parts of town, some of which were part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Officers checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 14 times, conducted eight business checks and processed at least 12 requests for fingerprints, and facilitated the return of one loose dog and one lost wallet.
During the same period, Bristol police conducted three sex offender checks and found everyone to be in compliance.
The department also assisted Vermont State Police once and Bristol Rescue once.
