Harwood tops girls’ hockey

HARWOOD — Host No. 4 Harwood on Wednesday eliminated the Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team from the Division I tournament, 2-0, in a quarterfinal matchup.
Harwood improved to 14-5-2, while a young Tiger team finished 12-7-2.
The Tigers’ outshot the Highlanders, 32-24, but could not dent Harwood goalie Kaylee Thayer, who worked a 32-save shutout.
Harwood took a 1-0 lead on a Kailie French goal, and Eva Joslin added an empty-netter in the final seconds.
Abby Hodsden made 22 saves for the Tigers.
Merry Kimble, Anna McIntosh, Taylor Moulton and Izzy Pistilli are the MUHS seniors.
