BRANDON — Steven Dale Spencer, age 61, passed away Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at his home in Brandon, Vt.
Mr. Spencer was born in Elkins, W.V. on Nov. 1, 1958. He was the son of Walter and Shirley (Doyle) Spencer. He grew up in Warren, Ohio, where he received his early education. He graduated from Champion, Ohio, High School, class of 1977. He began his working career in a steel mill in Ohio. He later managed a restaurant in Warren, Ohio. He worked as a supervisor for U.S. Steel for several years, before earning his Practical Nursing Degree from E.H.O.V.E. He worked several years at Mercy Hospital in Vermillion, Ohio. For the past several years he has worked as a traveling nurse. He has been a resident of Brandon since 2015, moving here from Ohio. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hiking, traveling, sports cars and his Mustang.
He is survived by his wife; Bonnie (Mayer) Spencer of Brandon; two sons, William W. Spencer of Warren, Ohio, and Alan F. Spencer of Poland, Ohio; two daughters, Mary Spencer of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lillith Spencer of Aurora, Ohio; a brother, Robert Spencer of Ohio; and two sisters, Karen Spencer and Shannon Spencer both of Warren, Ohio. Three grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.
The memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m., at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. William Bartholomew, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church will officiate. A private burial will take place, at a later date.
