New York auto dealership is buying Middlebury’s Denecker Chevrolet

TOM DENECKER

MIDDLEBURY — Longtime auto-dealer Chris Mackey and his son, Christopher, announced Wednesday their purchase of Denecker Chevrolet in Middlebury. Denecker sits at a prominent spot on Route 7 just to the south of Middlebury village.
The Mackeys currently own the Ford and Subaru franchises in Saratoga Springs, N.Y,. in a dealership called the Mackey Auto Group.
Chris Mackey had been part of the management team with New Country Motor Group, one of the largest auto groups on the East Coast with 35 dealerships, for the past 25 years. He decided to purchase the Saratoga Springs dealership from that group just over a year ago with his son. The Denecker purchase is the first addition to their group.
The sale of Denecker Chevrolet to Mackey is due to close at the end of March; a purchase price has not been announced. After the transaction closes the dealership will be known as Middlebury Chevrolet. Tom Denecker, the current owner, will continue to manage the dealership.
