JEFFERY (JEFF) EARL DUNSHEE

DUBLIN, Ireland — Jeffery (Jeff) Earl Dunshee, 73, of Orwell, Vt., and Dublin, Ireland, husband of Sharen McCabe, passed away peacefully after a short illness at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020.
Born July 16, 1946, in Terryville, Conn., to Erwin and Helen Dunshee, Jeff resided in Connecticut until 2002, when he moved to Dublin, Ireland, while also remaining a resident of Vermont, where he had purchased his farm in Orwell in 1978.
A true citizen of the world, Jeff visited more than 70 countries in his lifetime, making friends wherever he traveled. No matter where his travels took him, Jeff loved returning to his farm in Vermont, tinkering with cars or working on any number of other projects on the property that became a beloved gathering place for family and friends traveling from near and far to enjoy a sunset on the front porch and a dinner of Jeff’s famous meatballs.
After graduating from Quinnipiac College in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Jeff joined Price Waterhouse in Hartford, Conn., where he worked until joining Equator Bank in Hartford. At Equator, Jeff established the Africa Growth Fund, the first venture capital fund for Africa. Jeff traveled nearly the entire continent but felt a special bond to Ghana, which became a second home to him, and also where he met his wife Sharen. After leaving Equator Bank in 1997, Jeff remained self-employed at Dunshee & Associates for the rest of his life, where he claimed to have handed in his resignation three times and three times to have turned it down.
The likes of which shall never be seen again, Jeff will be and already is profoundly missed by his loving wife Sharen; his children Margaret, Elizabeth, Jeffrey, and Michael; his grandchildren Lyla, Lucas, and Noble; his brother Robert; his sister MaryAnne; the McCabe family, and a group of friends that quite literally circles the entire globe.
A funeral service will take place Monday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. in the Unitarian Church, St. Stephen’s Green in Dublin, Ireland. In lieu of any flowers, donations can be made in Jeff’s name to Stand Up To Cancer at File 1224 1801 W. Olympic Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91199-1224 or via StandUpToCancer.org.◊
