MUHS girls’ hockey tops Raiders

RUTLAND — On Saturday the Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team romped past host Rutland, 8-1.
The Tigers improved to 8-5-1 and are in a four-way battle for the top spots in Division II with Harwood (9-3-1), Missisquoi (7-4-1) and Champlain Valley (7-6). The top two teams at the end of the regular season will compete in the Division I playoffs.
This week the Tigers will visit Stowe on Wednesday and host Brattleboro at 5 p.m. on Friday.
Against the Raiders seven Tigers scored, led by Bella Gale with two goals and an assist. Scoring a goal apiece were Ella Tucker (two assists), Hana Doria (assist), Erin Mulcahy, Ryley Olsen, Nyna Cole and Audrey Schnoor. In goal, Lydia Deppman made 20 saves and Claire Bruley stopped one shot.
Elise Lidstone scored for the Raiders, and three RHS goalies combined for 24 saves.
