Tiger boys’ basketball surges past OV

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ basketball team broke open its Monday home game vs. Otter Valley in the third quarter on the way to a 55-40 victory.
The Tigers were already up by 10 at the break and then outscored the Otters, 15-3, in the third period to assume command.
Tyler Buxton (14 points) and Jeff Lokatys (11) led a balanced scoring effort as the Tigers improved to 6-4 heading into a Wednesday game at Enosburg. The Tigers’ Saturday home game vs. Missisquoi was postponed until Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
The Otters received 13 points from Dylan Gaboriault and eight from Ben Adams. They dropped to 3-7 heading into a game at Mount Anthon on Friday. Wednesday’s home game vs. Springfield was moved to Feb. 22.
