Curbside Christmas tree pickup in Vergennes & Middlebury this Saturday

MIDDLEBURY/VERGENNES — As part of the Addison County Solid Waste Management District’s Merry Mulch Program, volunteers from the Middlebury Rotary Club and the Vergennes Lions Club will be picking up old Christmas trees in their respective towns this Saturday, Jan. 4. The holiday greenery will be repurposed into garden mulch, which members of the public can collect for free in the spring.
If you would like your tree to be picked for free up in Middlebury and Vergennes, the solid waste management district asks that you leave your tree, stripped of garlands, ornaments, tinsel and wire, on the curbside on Friday night (Jan. 3) to be picked up early on Saturday. No wreathes, please — only trees.
Trees can also be dropped off at the Addison County Solid Waste Management District Transfer Station, 1223 Route 7 South in Middlebury, during the district’s normal operating hours of 7 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday – Friday, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.
Christmas trees for Merry Mulch are accepted free of charge until the end of January.
If you have questions, please call the ACSWMD, 388-2333.
