Jessie M. Orr, 83 of Orwell

JESSIE M. ORR

ORWELL — Jessie M. Orr, 83, of Orwell, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 19, 2019, at Helen Porter Rehab and Nursing.
She was born on Dec. 14, 1935, in Bennington, the daughter of Joseph and Jessie (Sumner) Maclay.
Mrs. Orr graduated from Thetford Academy in Thetford in 1954.
She married Conrad H. Orr on Sept. 16, 1956. They resided together in Vershire for 15 years. In 1971 the family relocated to Orwell, where they bought and operated a dairy farm.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Orwell, where she served as the clerk of the records and the president of the Women’s fellowship. She was also a member of the Orwell Historical Society where she helped do the rewrite of the History of Orwell.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Shaw and Margaret Korda; two sons, William Orr and Peter Orr; three brothers, Thomas Maclay, Roderick Maclay, and James Maclay; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and the family continues to grow.
She was predeceased by her husband Conrad Orr on April 16, 2017, and a brother Gordon Maclay.
There will be no public calling hours.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of Orwell. Reception to follow at the Orwell Fire House.
Arrangements are by the Durfee Funeral Home.
