VERGENNES — City police said more charges are pending in a Sunday case in which they cited one adult Northlands Job Corps student for supplying alcohol to a minor and issued court diversion paperwork to two Northlands students for underage drinking.
Police said they first responded on Sunday to a report of a female causing a disturbance at Macdonough Park. There they determined the two underage students had consumed alcohol and cited them, and alleged that Mario A. Molina, 22, of The Bronx N.Y. had furnished them alcohol, and cited him.
Police said the students had been allowed to consume alcohol at a Riverside Apartments unit, and they said further charges are likely following the conclusion of their investigation.
In other incidents between Nov. 4 and 10, Vergennes police:
On Nov. 4:
• Conducted two special traffic patrols and warned two drivers stopped on Canal Street.
• At the junction of Routes 7 and 22A assisted Vermont State Police with a tractor-trailer unit that had half of a double-wide home fall off the trailer and land in the ditch.
On Nov. 5:
• Ticketed five motorists stopped during three traffic patrols conducted in various locations around the city.
• Helped a Ferrisburgh resident who was dealing with a problem between him and his daughter.
On Nov. 6:
• Participated in the monthly Walk and Ride to School Day with Vergennes Union High School students and faculty.
• Responded to a report of a suspicious male in the backyard of a West Main Street home; police learned the man was a contractor who went to the wrong address.
• Issued a no-trespass order to a woman who walked into a Main Street apartment and tried to cause a fight.  
On Nov. 7:
• Conducted early-morning traffic patrols on four city streets and saw no violations.
• Helped an employee of Collins Aerospace get into a locked vehicle.
• Issued a Temporary Relief From Abuse Order to a Hillside Acres resident on behalf of Addison Family Court.
• Dealt with a two-vehicle accident at Northlands Job Corps.
• After being alerted to a hole in the pavement near the Otter Creek Bridge, placed traffic cones around the hole and passed on the concern to the public works department.  
• Handled a call from a man who said his ex-girlfriend was refusing to return his children to him. Police learned his ex-girlfriend had applied for and was issued a Temporary Relief From Abuse Order that included her custody of their children and his vacating their apartment. Police advised the caller to contact Addison Family Court and his attorney.   
On Nov. 8:
• Cited Kevin C. Theiss, 64, of Vergennes for driving while under the influence of alcohol. Police said they smelled alcohol on Theiss while in Champlain Farms on Main Street, and they alleged that Theiss admitted drinking prior to driving to the store, and they cited and released him.
• Arrested Kristen L. Ketcham, 33, of Salisbury for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in a Rutland court. Police said they had stopped her vehicle for allegedly traveling 66 mph in a 50 mph zone, and they lodged her at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility after issuing her a speeding ticket.
• Dealt with a minor two-vehicle accident on Armory Lane.
• Issued a subpoena to a Main Street resident on behalf of Addison District Court.
On Nov. 9:
• Responded to a report of someone burning material on North Maple Street without a permit from the Vergennes Fire Department, which ordered the fire to be put out.
• Went to Valley Vista on Alden Place to after being told a resident had left the premises in her vehicle without permission. Police said they were told the client had been incorrectly issued Suboxone and then given Narcan to counter the effects of the Suboxone. The client was then told not to leave, but instead drove away; police contacted her at her home in Ferrisburgh to ensure her well-being.
On Nov. 10:
• Dealt with an alleged shoplifter at the Dollar General Store in Ferrisburgh on behalf of state police. City police found the suspect, who they said had an active arrest warrant out of Franklin County, and said they found the stolen items in the suspect’s vehicle. City police transferred the case to Vermont State Police when they arrived.
• Checked out a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Monkton Road, but found nothing upon arrival.
• Issued diversion paperwork to a Northland Job Corps student for underage drinking.
• Conducted two traffic patrols and ticketed one motorist. 
• Looked into a report of a man sleeping in his vehicle downtown and learned he was traveling to Pennsylvania, was tired, and pulled over to get some rest.
• Conducted two background checks for New York State Police.
• Helped city firefighters with traffic control while they dealt with a possible gas leak on South Maple Street.
