SHOREHAM — Catherine Elizabeth Anne Dame, age 79, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.
Mrs. Dame was born in Pawtucket, R.I., on Sept. 5, 1940. She was the daughter of Joseph and Annie (Laycock) Wheatley. She grew up in Pawtucket, the youngest of nine children. She received her early education in Pawtucket and  graduated from North Providence (R.I.) high school, class of 1958.
She married Don Darius Dame Sr. on June 24, 1958, in Greenville, R.I. She moved with her family to Bridport in 1969, and later in 1974 moved to Shoreham. She assisted her husband on the family farm in many ways, including bookkeeper and cattle records keeper, while raising her family. She served on the Board of Trustee’s for East Shoreham Cemetery Association for many years. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family.
Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Don of Shoreham;  a daughter, Donna and husband William Buczkowski of Old Forge, N.Y.; and a son, Don D. Dame, Jr. and fiancée Joanne McLaren of Forest Dale, Vt.  Also surviving her are her grandchildren; Paul and Lori Dame of St. George, Vt. and their three children, Amanda and Ryan Sauer of Essex Junction, Vt. and their two children,  Michael and Laura Dame of Whiting, Vt., and their two children; Danielle and Corey Wandless of Erie, Pa., and their two children; and Lacey and Keaton Dahlin of West Haven, Vt., and their two children. 
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.◊
