VUHS seniors to walk for WomenSafe

VERGENNES/MIDDLEBURY — Every fall seniors at Vergennes Union High School host a fundraising walk to collect funds to benefit a cause that is important to class members.
The VUHS class of 2020 has chosen to walk for WomenSafe next Wednesday, Oct. 16.
WomenSafe is a nonprofit that works to serve people across the gender spectrum who experience sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. Commodore seniors are fundraising to help support the work that WomenSafe provides for Addison County by educating and providing a safe place and housing in the community.
They will walk and run from their school in Vergennes to the green in Middlebury, where WomenSafe is located. Once there, the seniors will host a community-wide gathering from 1 to 2 p.m. with speakers from WomenSafe, as well as students and staff who have benefited from services that WomenSafe provides.
VUHS Senior Class president Emily Rooney asked members of the public to please consider supporting this cause and sponsoring a senior on this walk.
Direct donations can be made through the class’ GoFundMe page, tinyurl.com/y3wzcpoj.
