In boys’ soccer, MUHS and OV victorious
ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school boys’ soccer in the latter half of last week, Middlebury and Otter Valley prevailed, but Vergennes and Mount Abraham came up short.
TIGERS
On Friday the 2-1 Tigers spotted visiting Rutland a first-half lead, but scored twice in the second half to win, 2-1. Alex Bleich, from Eben Jackson, tied the game, and Spencer Doran netted the game-winner. Tiger goalie Owen Lawton stopped two shots, and Raider goalie Jaden Kelly made four saves.
OTTERS
OV defeated visiting Springfield, 2-0, on Wednesday. OV took a 1-0 first-half lead on an own goal on a Sawyer Pierpont corner kick, and Bradley Danforth knocked home a Hayden Bernhardt cross midway through the second half. OV keeper Ben Adams made two saves as the Otters improved to 1-3.
COMMODORES
On Friday visiting Missisquoi edged VUHS, 1-0, on a Ryan Raleigh goal just after the half. MVU goalie Kyle Gilbert made nine saves, while goalie Gabriel Kadric made six for the 1-3 Commodores, who suffered their third shutout.
EAGLES
On Saturday the 3-1 Eagles took their first loss, 6-1, to visiting D-I foe Colchester. Liam Kelliher, assisted by Eric McKean, tallied for Mount Abe, and goalie Ethan DeWitt made four saves. The Eagles will host VUHS on Wednesday.
