Middlebury College fares well at regional track meet

BRUNSWICK, Maine /CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Middlebury College women’s and men’s track and field teams finished fourth and fifth, respectively, and at the 2019 New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. The women competed at Bowdoin, and the men at MIT.
At Bowdoin, the Middlebury women (57 points) finishing behind Williams (140), MIT (87.5) and Tufts (67) among 26 teams. 
Panther Rory Kelly finished second at 3,000 meters in a school-record time of 9:47.28 to highlight the meet.  
Cassie Kearney finished second at 800 meters in 2:13.36, while Meg Wilson was fifth (2:15.97). 
Ava O’Mara was fourth in the 600 (1:37.64), while teammate Lucy Lang was in fifth (1:38.56). Tasha Greene was fifth in the mile (5:02.24). 
The distance medley relay squad of Abigail Nadler, Gretchen McGrath, Kearney and Kelly took third (11:54.82).  
The men won four events as the Panthers scored 64 points to finish behind MIT (164), Tufts (78), WPI (67) and Southern Maine (65.5). 
Minhaj Rahman won the weight throw for the seventh time this winter with a heave of 61 feet, 2.25 inches. 
Jonathan Perlman won the mile in 4:10.82, while the 4×400-meter relay team of Arden Coleman, William Robertson, Matthew Durst and Jimmy Martinez won in 3:21.94 with a margin 2.99 seconds.
The distance medley relay team of Will Meyer, Coleman, Nathan Hill and Perlman claimed the top time of 10:10.99.
Meyer added a third-place effort in the 3,000 meters (8:34.36), while Harrison Knowlton was fourth in the 5,000 (15:13.40). Martinez was fourth in the 200 (22.50).
John Natalone was fourth in the pole vault at 15-1.75, while Nathaniel Klein was fifth in the shot put (48-3.5).
