Men’s basketball headed to NCAA Division III tourney

GLASSBORO, N.J. — The Middlebury College men’s basketball team was awarded an NCAA Division III tournament bid on Monday, and the 18-7 Panthers this weekend will participate in a four-team regional hosted by Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J.
The Panthers, the NESCAC regular-season co-champions, on Friday at 5:30 p.m. will face Nichols (25-2), from Dudley, Mass., the Commonwealth Coast Conference champion. Nichols, ranked No. 15 in the Feb. 17 D3hoops.com poll, owns wins over two NESCAC teams that defeated that Panthers, Tufts (twice) and Wesleyan.
If the Panthers get past Nichols they will almost certainly face host Rowan (21-6) on Saturday at 7 p.m. Rowan and Middlebury have one common opponent. Rowan defeated Keene State at Rowan, while Middlebury lost at home to Keene.
