Malcolm will balance outstanding education with affordability

I am writing to give my support to James “Chip” Malcolm as he runs for re-election to the Addison Central School District board. Chip has lived and worked in Middlebury for decades. He tirelessly served from 1985-2000 on the school board when his three children were growing up and attending school at Mary Hogan, MUMS and MUHS. With two grandchildren now at Mary Hogan, and a third who will start in the fall, Chip felt moved to be involved again, and was re-elected a few years ago.
Chip is a great listener and a deliberative thinker who understands the critical balance between creating an outstanding educational experience and appropriate affordability. He has since helped navigate the local school boards as they have transitioned to the unified ACSD board and is continuing to work on implementing the new International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
His additional efforts include working hard to map out a future for our schools’ aging buildings with declining enrollment that will be both fiscally responsible and the best for our community’s kids. He has great historical knowledge of our schools and has invaluable experience in this kind of work. Chip helped see MUHS through extensive school renovations in the late ’90s, as well as the building of MUMS.
Chip is deeply committed to this school district and its children and their families whether it be attending school board meetings or cheering for the Middlebury Tiger football team on Friday nights. Please join me in voting for James “Chip” Malcolm when we head to the poles on Tuesday, March 5.
