Author, Illustrator Ashley Wolff to visit Whiting Elementary School

WHITING — Ashley Wolff, local artist and author/illustrator of much loved picture books, is an “ambassador” for Addison County Readers (ACR), the local group that sponsors the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Over the years, Wolff has generously given presentations at area libraries, engaging young children and their families with her unique and colorful drawings and explorations of early literacy skills. Eliciting ideas from the young audience, the author creates a drawing unique to each group.
The next story time event will be hosted at the Whiting Elementary School on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 to 11 a.m., and all area families with young children (and older siblings) are invited.
Wolff readily talks about her enthusiasm for reading, confirming that children who “are read to from birth and into childhood not only gain enormously rich vocabulary, but sitting down with a child in your lap reading a book strengthens physical bonding, love and connections. It is an easy way to engage with a child. Even the youngest child can enjoy it. A story unfolds in pictures and colors. You explore a world together that is beyond your immediate experiences. Once children are in school they can build on all the pre-skills and become readers on their own.”

As Ashley Wolff herself says, “I am in favor of all books, reading in all places, all the time. Dolly Parton Imagination Library makes this possible.”
