Truck spills cargo on Route 125; police cite area men
ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police cited Steven Cadieux, 18, of Milton for driving under the influence after he had allegedly crashed his vehicle into a guardrail on Route 7 in New Haven on Aug. 5.
Police said they were informed at around 5:30 a.m. about a northbound vehicle allegedly travelling in the southbound lane of Route 7. Police allege Cadieux’s vehicle sustained “extensive” damage after striking the guardrail on the Route 7 bridge spanning the New Haven River. Police said they screened Cadieux for DUI and subsequently arrested him for that offense. Police said Cadieux is scheduled to be arraigned for the offense in Addison County Superior Court, criminal division, on Aug. 20.
State Police cited Kenneth Boule, 82, of Salisbury, for simple assault, after an alleged incident at around 6 a.m. on Aug. 4. Police provided no details on the exact location of the incident, nor the extent of injuries suffered by the victim, whose gender and age weren’t included in the press release. Police said Boule is slated to answer to the charge in Addison County Superior Court, criminal division, on Sept. 17.
Vermont State Police responded to a truck/trailer accident on Route 125 in Ripton, near Lincoln Road, at around 5:50 p.m. on Aug. 6. Police said Sean Stearns, 48, of Cornwall was towing a trailer carrying heavy equipment behind his Volvo truck when he took a sharp corner on Route 125 that resulted in the trailer tipping, prompting its cargo to roll into the road. The equipment blocked both lanes of Route 125, which was temporarily closed to traffic until it could be cleared, police said.
Members of the Ripton Fire Department assisted state police at the scene of the accident.
