NCAA tabs women’s tennis
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury College women’s tennis team will make its 15th trip to an NCAA Division III tournament in the past 16 years when the squad hosts an NCAA Regional from Thursday through Saturday.
In one Friday semifinal, Middlebury (14-3) will take on the winner of a Thursday match between SUNY Geneseo (10-9) and Penn State Berks (9-5). Also on Thursday Nichols (19-2) will play Wilkes (15-3) and Skidmore (15-5) faces Yeshiva (10-3). The winners of those matches will meet in the other Friday semifinal.
The regional final will be played on Saturday. Match times were not set earlier in the week. They will be available at athletics.middlebury.edu. Middlebury reached the NCAA final four a year ago.
This past weekend the Panthers, ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division III, fell to No. 2 Williams, 5-3, in the NESCAC final. Amherst hosted the league tournament. Middlebury defeated Wesleyan, 5-3, in a Saturday semifinal, and Amherst, 6-3, in a Friday quarterfinal.
