Local family to perform traditional/step-dancing music in Cornwall

The Bolton/Munkres family band, Honey in the Hive, will perform at the Cornwall Town Hall on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. The concert will feature driving fiddle and banjo music, and step-dancing from Appalachian, Cape Breton, Irish and other traditions.
This family band includes Romy on fiddle, flute and feet; Ben on piano, mandolin and melodica; Andrew Munkres on five-string banjo and guitar; and Kristin Bolton on upright bass and feet.
Sunday’s concert is a fundraiser for Ben and Romy Munkres’ musical tour of Scotland in April with Young Tradition Vermont. Romy and Ben both toured with YTV to Ireland and Cape Breton. Romy just recently returned from a musical tour in Tottori, Japan with YTV.
There will be refreshments for sale, as well as CDs, raffle tickets, and other fundraising items. Admission is by freewill donation. Ben and Romy will be joined by Young Tradition Touring Group members Meredith Kimble of Middlebury on harp and Ben Clark of Waltham on guitar.
In case you were wondering, YTV is a non-profit organization that inspires young people to learn and perform traditional music, then ultimately give back to the community. The Touring Group is one of YTV’s many programs, and its focus is to promote connections between people locally, nationally and internationally by performing, sharing and studying traditional music and dance.
