Letter to the Editor: February coyote hunt is ‘senseless killing’

I am writing to urge your readers who care about upholding Vermont’s standards of fair and sportsmanlike hunting to speak out against the statewide coyote “hunt” that is being scheduled for the entire month of February, 2018.
These wholesale killing sprees do nothing to support population control and are opposed by a majority of Vermonters. The Department of Fish and Wildlife, headed by Commissioner Louis Porter, has responsibility for ensuring responsible management of wildlife and for being responsive to citizen interests and concerns. To date, the Department has turned a blind eye to this hunt and ignored multiple requests for regulation.
For Vermonters who care about co-existing with wildlife and who oppose senseless killing, now is a great time to contact the Governor’s office and the Department of Fish and Wildlife and demand action to stop this “hunt.”
Vermont is a small state and we can get things done if we just come together!
