MIDDLEBURY — Visiting Montpelier edged the Middlebury Union High School gymnastics team on Thursday, 112.1-103.95, at Middlebury Union Middle School in what was the season-opening meet for both schools.
Montpelier’s Zoey Dubois posted victories in the vault and on the bars, and Jenna Krussman prevailed on the beam and all-around to lead their team.
Fair Haven independent Julianna Williams, who trains with the Tigers, won the floor exercise, but her score did not count in the team totals. That left Tiger Carly Burger officially in a three-way tie with Dubois and Solon Dominique Savard for first place in the floor event. Burger also placed third on the beam.
Also for MUHS, junior Lian McGarry took fourth in both the vault and bars, Tiger Laura Whitley third in the all-around and fourth on the beam, and senior Olivia Beauchamp took fourth in the all-around.
The Tigers will see their next action on Dec. 28, when they will host St. Johnsbury at MUMS at 6 p.m.
