ADDISON COUNTY — A number of Addison County-area churches have set their schedules for special Christmas events and services.
BRANDON
St. Mary’s Church will hold a Christmas Eve Mass on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Christmas Day Mass on Monday, Dec. 25, will be at 10 a.m.
St. Thomas & Grace Episcopal Church (Route 7, Brandon village) will hold a services on Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. (children should arrive at 6:30 p.m. to prepare for their part in the service).
Lifebridge Christian Church will hold its Christmas Eve service on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m.
Brandon United Methodist Church will hold Christmas Eve candlelight service on Sunday, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. There will be no morning service on that day.
BRIDPORT
St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church will hold Christmas Eve Mass on Sunday, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m.
BRISTOL
The First Baptist Church of Bristol will hold its traditional Christmas Eve family candle-lighting service on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. There will be readings, carols and special music.
St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church on will hold a Christmas Eve services on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 5:15 p.m. and 9 p.m.
The Bristol Federated Church will hold its Christmas Eve service on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 6:30 p.m.
CHARLOTTE
The Charlotte Congregational Church will hold worship services and lighting of the advent wreath on Sundays, Dec. 3-24, 10 a.m.; Advent hours of Sanctuary, Tuesdays, Dec 5, 12 & 19, 5-7 p.m.; “Carols of Many Lands,” Friday,Dec. 15, 6-7:15 p.m.; and a Christmas pageant Sunday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. On Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, there will be a morning service, 10 a.m., a family service, 4:30 p.m. and a candlelight service 7 p.m.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church will hold Christmas Eve Masses on Sunday, Dec. 24, in several locations: at 4 p.m. at the Old Lantern, at 7 p.m. at St. Jude in Hinesburg, and at 10 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Christmas Day Mass will be held on Monday, Dec. 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Jude.
CORNWALL
The First Congregational Church of Cornwall will hold a Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m.
EAST MIDDLEBURY
The East Middlebury United Methodist Church will hold Christmas Eve services on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. All are welcome.
FERRISBURGH
The Ferrisburgh United Methodist Church will hold a service of candlelight lessons and carols on Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m.
LEICESTER
St. Agnes Church will hold a Christmas Eve Mass on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 5:15 p.m.
LINCOLN
The United Church of Lincoln will hold a Christmas Tea on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 7-9 p.m., with good food, music and readings. Christmas Eve services on Sunday, Dec. 24 will be held at 9:45 a.m., 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. with carols, readings and Communion.
MIDDLEBURY
The Middlebury United Methodist Church will hold its annual concert and carol sing on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m., to raise money for the Charter House. On Christmas Eve, Sunday Dec. 24, they will hold a service of carol singing at 10:45 a.m. and a candlelight service of lessons and carols at 7 p.m.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury will hold Christmas Eve Masses on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 4 and 9 p.m. A Christmas Day Mass is on Monday, Dec. 25, at 9 a.m.
The Congregational Church of Middlebury will hold Christmas Eve services on Thursday, Dec. 24. A 10 a.m. morning worship, and candle lighting services at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Grace Baptist Church on Merchant’s Row will have a carol sing and refreshments on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and a repeat performance on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. Its annual Christmas Eve service is on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m.
Havurah House will hold a number of Chanukah services, including a Kabbalat Shabbat Service & Chanukah Candle lighting, Friday, Dec. 15, 6:30 p.m.; and the Havurah annual Chanukah party, Sunday, Dec. 17, 3-6 p.m.
Memorial Baptist Church in Middleburywill hold a contemplative Advent mini-retreat on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 8:30-11 a.m. On Sunday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. a service of lessons and carols will take place. A Christmas Eve service of candlelit lessons and carols will be held on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. and a Christmas Day service on Monday, Dec. 25 at 10 a.m. in a “Come as you are” family-oriented service.
St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will hold a Gentle Christmas service and lunch on Saturday, Dec. 16, at noon, for those for whom the Christmas season may be difficult; a Communion service will be followed by a soup lunch. Holy communion-Advent IV will be held Sunday, Dec. 24, 9 a.m., a Christmas Eve pageant at 4 p.m. and a Christmas Eve Communion with choral music at 9 p.m. The Christmas Day service will take place Monday, Dec. 25, at 10 a.m. On Sunday, Dec. 31, a Christmas I Holy Communion will be held at 8 a.m. and a celebration of Christmas in word and music at 10:30 a.m.
The Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society will hold two Christmas Eve services on Sunday,Dec. 24, both ending with candle lighting and the singing of “Silent Night”: at 5 p.m. a Christmas Celebration for all ages, including a no-rehearsal Christmas pageant, with carols and youth choir; and at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Barnaby Feder will give a homily titled “Unsafe and Sound,” Community carol singing will precede the evening service at 7:15 p.m.
MONKTON
The Monkton Friends Church will hold its Christmas Eve service on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 8:30 p.m.
NEW HAVEN
The New Haven Congregational Church will hold its Christmas Eve candlelight service Sunday, Dec. 24, at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
NORTH FERRISBURGH
The North Ferrisburgh United Methodist Church will offer two Christmas Eve services on Sunday, Dec. 24 — a 10 a.m. family service and a 7:30 p.m. traditional service with carols, sermon and candle lighting.
ORWELL
The First Congregational Church of Orwell will conduct a Christmas Eve service on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
RIPTON
Ripton Community Church will hold its annual Christmas Eve service on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 7:30 p.m., led by Bill McKibben. Contribution to a seasonal smorgasbord are welcome.
SALISBURY
The Salisbury Congregational Church will hold its annual Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24. There will also be an Advent service that same day at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
SHOREHAM
The Shoreham Congregational Church will celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent, Sunday, Dec. 24 at 10 a.m., There will be a traditional Christmas Eve community candlelight service with lessons carols at 5 p.m. A New Year’s Eve service will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31, and an Epiphany Service on Sunday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m.
STARKSBORO
The Starksboro Meeting House  will hold a non-denominational Christmas program of lessons and carols on Friday, Dec. 23, at 7:30 p.m..
VERGENNES
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will hold services on Sunday, Dec. 24: there will be an Advent IV Holy Eucharist at 8 a.m. and at 4 p.m., a Christmas Eve Eucharist with choir and Pageant. There will be a Christmas Day Eucharist on Monday, Dec. 25, at 10 a.m., a St. Stephen’s Day Eucharist on Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 10:30 a.m., a St John’s Day morning prayer on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m. and Holy Innocents’ Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. of Thursday, Dec. 28
St. Peter’s Church will hold a Christmas Eve Mass on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 4 p.m. and a Christmas Day Mass on Monday, Dec. 25, at 9 a.m.
Vergennes United Methodist Church will hold a Candlelight Christmas service of lessons and carols on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m.
Victory Baptist Church will hold a Holiday Choir Cantata at 11 a.m., and a teen and children’s Christmas program at 6 p.m. on Dec. 17. On Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, there will be an 11 a.m. regular service and a 6 p.m. candlelight service. A New Year’s service will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31.
The Vergennes Congregational Church will have a Los Posadas (pageant) during worship on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 9:30 a.m. On Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, there will be a regular service at 9:30 a.m., a family candlelight service with Mel’s marionettes at 4 p.m., and at 7 p.m., a traditional candlelight service.
WEST ADDISON
The West Addison United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas candlelight service of lessons and carols on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m.
WEYBRIDGE
Weybridge Congregational Church will hold its Christmas Eve carol and candlelight service on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m.
WHITING
The Whiting Community Church will hold services on Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
