Check out the auction items and gift baskets at Bixby auction

VERGENNES — The tenth annual silent auction of gift baskets is being offered by the Friends of the Bixby Library. On display now until the auction closes Saturday, Dec. 3, the Friends have assembled baskets that include toys, cookbooks, pet items and many local handmade crafts.
There are over 25 gift certificates representing locally available dining, auto service, massage and clothing. Festively decorating the library shelves are bluebird houses and tole painted Americana by Judy Rice. During the course of the summer, Jeff Tweedy donated one of a kind, nature-inspired mirrors, frames and wall adornments. These are suitable for your home or as a gift of Vermont nature to a faraway friend.
The ever popular quilted pot holders by Lisa Patton add a gaiety of color to any kitchen. Jewelry includes a sterling silver 802 bracelet from Raintree, earrings from Bellow Falls based Silver Forest and handcrafted beaded necklaces and bracelets.
Karlene DeVine, president of the Friends of the Bixby, says “Don’t miss an opportunity to find the perfect hostess gift for a holiday occasion. Bestow upon a friend, a unique item from a local artist or crafts person. Funds raised by the Friends support Bixby activities such as a curator for the history room, inventory and cataloguing of Native American artifacts in the museum room, promotion of early literacy through support of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and funding of the STEM programs led by Youth Services librarian Rachel Plant.”
The silent auction closes at 2 p.m. on Dec. 3 after the choral performance by the Vergennes Union High School Commodore Singers. To see photos of many of the items, go to the Bixby’s Facebook page. You can bid during library hours, Monday through Saturday. Watch the Addison Independent for an ad that lists all of the generous donors that made the silent auction possible.
