Cosmos take 1-0 victory from Eagle field hockey
SPRINGFIELD — Host No. 4 Springfield on Wednesday dealt the No. 5 Mount Abraham Union High School field hockey team a 1-0 loss in a Division II quarterfinal.
After a first half in which the teams combined for only one shot on goal, the Eagles pressed early after the break.
But the Cosmos took the lead midway through the second half, and Cosmo goalie Aunna Parker made huge saves on Eagles Jackie Reiss, Hannah Wahl and Celia Heath down the stretch to preserve the shutout.
Mount Abe finished at 6-8-1, while Springfield (9-4-1) advanced to a semifinal to be played at Middlebury College at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
